Missionaries Today
Sr. Elisabeth Espinhara is a Brazilian Xaverian Missionary of Mary who lives now in San Paolo, Brazil after being in the Chad’s mission.
- What is your current ministry and your favorite part of?
I am the Coordinator of the Missionary Board of São Paulo. I also coordinate the Religious Education Program in Our Lady of Graces Parish. Sincerely, I love everything I do: God asks me to do it, then I do it with love and dedication.
- Your favorite way to pray?
I like to pray with music that talk about God and helps me to talk with Him. Likewise, I enjoy praying contemplating nature.
- What is the best part of living in a community?
I have many “best parts”: I love to have someone to share our faith; I appreciate being co-responsible of the regular activity proceedings and feel that my family is with us in everything we do.
- What is the most fun you have had with your community?
When we watch a movie together eating popcorn.
- What do you do for fun?
Being creative, producing innovative ideas!!!
- Any nicknames?
No, but people in Chad used to call me “the tall and beautiful warrior.”
- Any words of wisdom for those considering missionary-religious life?
Being a missionary means leave for a big adventure. I like to imagine myself in the back part of a bicycle that Jesus is driving. He brings me to amazing places. I am not afraid because I know I am safe in His Hands. How much I would like that more young people could do this experience of completely self-giving to Jesus!
